Toyota lawsuit, one of the most talked about car accident cases, has left many people scratching their heads and wondering what is going on. The lawyers in the case have apparently hired several women to pretend to be their own children while they talk on the phone with their alleged mistresses. The fact that this was going on should have been abundantly obvious, but apparently one of the Toyota attorneys thought it would be a clever move to use a group of well meaning female friends. The fact that the lawyers didn’t think this through probably says a lot about their judgment of how real women feel when they get cheated on.
The first step in any lawsuit is filing a complaint, and this case unfortunately appears to have no complaints as of yet. A few people have brought complaints, but none of them appear to be particularly serious. This lack of serious complaint could mean that the Toyota case will likely be a very weak case. This is a terrible shame because there are so many good lawyers out there who could really make a difference in this lawsuit.
There are several things that seem to have happened here. First, one of the alleged mistresses somehow got a copy of a deposition of an attorney handling the case, which turned out to be a huge mistake. If she had this deposition, and it shows in the record, why didn’t she just come forward and provide all of the information that she had that is related to this case? If this is the case, then it is obvious that she hasn’t come forward to let her side of the story known, and that may have been her downfall.
Secondly, there were two lawyers who seemed to be working on the case. There was one working pro Bono for an uncontested settlement, and there was another one who was actually on the record as having some experience with this type of case. It is hard to imagine that both of these lawyers missed meeting their client, and it is even more difficult to imagine that they could have done anything that would have helped their case. It seems as though both of these lawyers had a personal conflict with their client, and this may have been a very detrimental thing to the success of this lawsuit.
The third lawyer who was involved in the Toyota lawsuit was supposedly an environmental specialist. While she was supposed to have some background in this area, there is a real question as to whether or not she knew anything about the litigation that was taking place. Now, it has been established that attorneys do sometimes make mistakes, so this shouldn’t be too much of a concern. But what happens when you have an attorney who isn’t really involved in the core of the case, but wants to win?
After all is said and done, one lawyer may have done her part, but this is still an awful situation. The Toyota manufacturer is seeking compensation for injuries, money that will never be recovered. This is why an independent lawyer should be involved in the case and not one that is tied to one side or the other.
